Maple: Hit the Deck Participant

Plus One: Maple, thank you for taking a few moments to let us feature you. As a participant of Hit the Deck, what is your fitness challenge and fundraising goal?
Maple: I asked sponsors to help me reach my goal of 200 miles in a month. I cycle both indoors and outdoors and reached the 200 miles goal last week. It also helped me get out and do 10-20 miles each day. I needed the motivation.

Plus One: How is your fitness challenge going so far and are you on track to reaching your goal by the end of July?
Maple: I plan for each day the day before by setting out my exercise clothes the night before and get the ride and or run in. I was able to do 10 miles almost everyday.

Plus One: Is your fitness challenge only for Hit the Deck or usually part of your daily routine?
Maple: I cross train, cycle, hike, run and walk. Hit the Deck did help me stay on top of my goals.

Plus One: What does Hit the Deck mean to you, and if this event was longer than a month, would you continue your fitness challenge and fundraising goal?
Maple: Focusing on wellness while enhancing resources for those with neurological conditions has been a good way to devote attention to this summer. Everyone likes to finish. I am glad I finished and my supporters enjoyed being part of the challenge. Next year I will try for even more miles. There is also a good lesson. Set a realistic goal and try to do something everyday.
